President

As a third generation co-owner of the company, Richard has more than 30 years of beer and beverage experience in the industry. He took over the President position in 1992 after Herb Tatelman’s retirement and now oversees all divisions of MVDC.

Richard also holds the following positions:

• Attorney and member of Massachusetts Bar Association since 1974
• Past President of Massachusetts Beer Wholesalers Association
• An original founding member of KEG 1 and currently a partner in Keg 1 LLC‘s Texas operations
• Served on NBWA Board of Directors for the State of Massachusetts
• Board of Directors of MBA (Mass Beverage Alliance)

Richard resides in Swampscott, MA with his wife Dorothy. He has three children: two daughters and a son who currently works for the company.

Jack Tatelman

Senior Vice President

Acting in the role of Managing Partner and co-owner of Merrimack Valley Distributing Company, Inc., Jack Tatelman has helped lead the company for more than 30 years to become a dominant player in the sales of malt beverage products in the Essex and Greater Middlesex counties of Massachusetts.

Graduating from the University of New Hampshire in 1978 where he received an undergraduate's degree in Business and Communications, Jack entered the business first as a Merchandising/Promotional Manager, later overseeing the sales division along with the Director of Sales and Marketing.

• Partner in Keg 1LLC’s Texas operation. Sits on the Keg1a knowledge exchange group. • Board of Director for Massachusetts Restaurant Association
• Board of Director for Cerebral Palsy of the North Shore
• Miller Brewing Company POS Council

Mark Tatelman photo

Mark Tatelman

Executive Vice President

Mark Tatelman is a 4th generation owner at Merrimack Valley Distributing Company. He graduated from the Goizueta Business School at Emory University in Atlanta Georgia with a dual concentration in Finance and Accounting.

Upon graduating, Mark went to work for the Boston Beer Company in Washington DC and Northern Virginia. After his tenure at Samuel Adams, Mark returned to his roots, joining the family business as a Retail Account Specialist. He continued to gain experience at the company and is currently an essential part of the executive team and Merrimack Valley Distributing Company’s future success.

Mark has direct responsibility for Merrimack Valley’s Craft and Specialty Import team as well as the company's Wine and Spirits Division. Mark also works closely with other parts of the executive team; most of his time is spent on the Sales and Marketing side with Director John Scully. direct:  978-223-1100  •  markt@mvdc.com

John Scully

Director of Sales and Marketing

John has more than 30 years experience in the Malt Beverage business, starting as a salesperson for A&E Distributors. His talent was evident to Merrimack Valley’s senior management, and he was recruited into the sales division in 1984.

John rose through the ranks, first becoming an Off-Premise Sales Manager in 1986 and later in 1993 was promoted to oversee the sales division as Director of Sales and Marketing. John believes his role as the Director is to maximize the sales of MVDC products through distribution, retail execution, and customer service.

He resides in Methuen, Massachusetts with his wife Mary and daughter Julie. He enjoys playing golf when he can find the time.

Thomas DeCoff photo

Thomas DeCoff

Corporate Financial Officer

After earning his BA in Accounting from Northeastern University, Thom held various senior-level management positions in the warehouse/transportation and high-tech industries. He joined Merrimack Valley Distributing Company in 1994 as the company’s controller. Over time his role expanded until he was appointed to his current position of Vice President/CFO.

In addition to overseeing the financial operations of the company, Thom is responsible for the administrative functions of human resources, customer service and information technology. He works closely with the operations and sales departments and is a nine-year member of the KEG 1 CFO Committee.

Thom resides with his wife Dee in Danvers where he is active in the community, serving on several town and local committees.

Greg Bush photo

Greg Bush

Operations Manager

Greg has more than 36 years of experience at Merrimack Valley Distributing Company, Inc., having held various positions in the warehouse and operations. In 1980 he was promoted to Operations Manager with responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the company as well as capitol purchasing, union issues, and contract negotiations and arbitrations.

Greg received his BS from the University of Massachusetts in Lowell, earning a degree in Environmental Science with concentration in Earth and Geological Sciences. This knowledge has served him well in dealing with DEP, EPA, and OSHA compliance and regulations.

Greg resides in Hampton Beach with his wife of 37 years, their son and daughter, and has been active in both religious and various outreach programs to those less fortunate.
